2006 All-Star Game
The start of the 2006 All-Star Game was great. The finish was fantastic. You feel bad for a good man like Trevor Hoffman but it’s hard not to be happy for Michael Young, who like Hoffman, is one of the best players and guys in the game. Young has been called underrated and unknown all season, but I say shame on you if you did not know who he was before Tuesday’s game. He is the reigning AL batting champ and
a three-time All-Star. He plays in Texas, which might not help, but he plays every game like it is his last. Those who know him best are not surprised he hit the game-winning triple. He’s been doing that forever. Who would you rather have up in that situation, Young or Derek Jeter? The fact you have to think about it is my point. OK I am biased. He’s always treated me great and been a real professional, plus he is my father’s favorite player. My mom likes him because Young’s mom is Mexican. Speaking of mothers, Young’s mom Anna had to be proud of her son — as always. His father Fred also played a big role in his life and helped him become the man he is today.
